Challenging Camp for CCF Cadets
CCFTrips & Visits

The CCF cadets have been keeping this summer, heading to Penally in South Wales to complete a wealth of different tasks at the summer camp. Cadets took part in several activities from the CCF syllabus, which had been organised by 160th Infantry Brigades Cadet training Team. The cadets departed from the College by minibus, and travelled to Wales to enjoy the camp.

Upon arrival, the cadets were met by the School Staff Instructor who gave them all a brief on the week and an introduction to military bed making – something most had never come across before! The week followed a slick routine, with an early breakfast daily before deploying out on a full day of activities. The cadets returned every evening in time for a hearty evening meal, before an enjoyable activities package. All were ready for bed and soundly asleep in their crisp cotton sheets and hairy military blanket!

The cadets took part in a myriad of activities; a range day, climbing and abseiling, raft building and kayaking were just some of the challenges to which the group turned their hands. A two day field exercise also took place, along the coast at the stunning Pembrey country park. All activities were run by the cadet training team, with assistance from the College staff. Each evening there was a range of activities available for the cadets, including archery, clay pigeon shooting and the dreaded drill competition. The most popular evening activity turned out to be a stroll along the beach to Tenby for an ice cream!

Head of CCF Mr Steve Macpherson commented ‘the cadets performed incredibly well throughout and, although all our numbers were small, our cadets stood out for the all the right reasons.’
