Overdue Performance by Staff Band
StaffMusic

Fresh from their barnstorming Bob Snellgrove retirement gig on Skipwith front lawn, four members of the teaching staff at Shiplake College (Adam Dimmick - Head of Digital Literacy and teacher of computing; Aled Elmore – teacher of physics; Gareth Hughes – Deputy Head Academic and teacher of geography; Byron Ward – Musician in Residence and teacher of music) recently teamed up to form the band 'Overdue'.

United by a love of '90s alternative music and a desire to revisit their head-banging teenage years, the group rehearsed weekly for their own personal ‘Woodstock’; a support act gig at the Acoustic Couch in Bracknell mid-week in October. The borderline sizeable crowd on the night were taken on a musical adventure, encompassing delights from REM, Stereophonics, Spin Doctors, The Killers, Maroon 5, Oasis and even Huey Lewis & The News.

Over an orange squash or two afterwards (it was a school night, after all) the freshly disbanded band could reflect on a great experience, the preparation for which epitomised many of the qualities highlighted in the Shiplake 7, with motivation, creativity and determination standing out. Following a rave review (‘You guys weren’t actually that bad’) by entirely unbiased audience member Mrs Louise Rapple-Moore, Head of Careers, Overdue look forward to a comeback gig in the near future.
