During the Easter holiday, our Year 7 girls enjoyed a netball and Disneyland trip to Paris, France. The following report of the trip comes courtesy of Year 7 pupils Arabella May and Daisy Carlsson.
The trip began with a very early start of 3.30am. We all met at school before getting on to the bus to take a ferry, before another bus journey had had us excitedly arriving at our Disney Hotel. Once we arrived at our hotel, we were all very excited to get started. We settled into our rooms and then went for a swim in the onsite aqua park which had flumes and a pirate ship! Once we had worked up an appetite, we then had a pizza night in the hotel's restaurant and then got some much-needed sleep.
On the second day, we visited Val’d Europe; this was an amazing shopping mall and was absolutely massive. After a couple hours shopping and walking around, we stopped for lunch. Then we had a 4-hour netball masterclass. We did drills covering everything that would help us prepare for the upcoming tournament. After a couple sessions, we met Paige Reed, a player for Manchester Thunder. We got to ask her questions about her netball career as well as get some tips for the tournament.
Day three was tournament day. We all played LOTS of netball and put our newly learned skills into practice. We all did very well; one of our teams got into the cup playoffs and our other two teams played in the plate play offs.
Day four was a day at Disneyland Paris. We went to both Walt Disney Studios and the Disneyland Park. We got to go on lots of rides including Thunder Mountain, which is the fastest rollercoaster in the park, as well as Hyper Space Mountain and many more! We attended our awards ceremony and received trophies from the tournament. We stayed in Disneyland all day and then watched the fireworks and drone show which was an amazing way to end the trip.
At the beginning of the trip, we were set the challenge to take the best Disney photo. On the final day, the winners were announced, and prizes awarded included Disney pens and chocolate. Then, before we knew it, we were homeward bound, and the coach was filled with chattering. We all had a wonderful time; thank you to Mrs Neill for organising the trip and thank you to Mrs Green, Miss Morgan and Mr Jones for taking us.
