At the start of the Autumn Term, in addition to welcoming our new pupils, we welcomed many new (and some familiar!) teachers to the College. We hope that you enjoy your time here and look forward to seeing you in action inside and out of the classroom! 

Additionally, we would like to extend a warm welcome to the following members of staff who have also joined the College. Joining the Marketing Department, we welcome back Old Viking Miss Laura Pasmore who is our new Community and Development Officer. In rowing, Miss Katie Halliday joins us as Rowing Development Coach for Years 9 and 10. Welcome to Mrs Claire Smith who joins our HR Department as HR Assistant, and to Mrs Sarah Rodwell who joins as PA to Deputy Heads. In the School Office, welcome to Mrs Carole Coles-Ranson and Mrs Lisa Zegzdryn who join us as School Receptionist and School Secretary respectively. We also welcome Mr Michael Delange who joins us as a Maintenance Assistant, and Mr Alex De Guzman & Mrs Corinne Gieve who both join our domestic team. Finally, welcome to Dr Jenny Collar who joins us as a Science Technician. 

Miss Jemima Brett 

Welcome to Miss Jemima Brett who joins us as part of the Geography Department. Jemima graduated from Cardiff University having studied Human Geography and Planning and has just completed her PCGE with the University of Bristol.  As Jemima will be in her first year of her ECT when she joins Shiplake, she will take part in our ECT programme. Music plays a large part in Jemima’s life as she was a chorister at Canterbury Cathedral for six years and has a passion for choral music and singing. 

Mr Eoin Canning 

Welcome to Mr Eoin Canning who joins as a Graduate Sports Assistant. Eoin graduated from Loughborough University where he studied geography and sports science as well as worked as a football and basketball activator. Given Eoin’s interest in Geography he will also be teaching a small number of geography lessons each week.  

Mr Conor Crowe 

Welcome back to Mr Conor Crowe, one of our Old Vikings who left the College in 2017, joins us to cover Mrs Lovelock’s maternity leave. Conor has done some occasional work for Shiplake in the last few years and has the advantage of being very familiar with the College.  

Mrs Amy Haynes 

Welcome to Mrs Amy Haynes who is our new Director of Music. Amy was previously Head of Music at The Arts Educational School in London and has previously been Head of Music at Holme Grange School and King Henry VIII College in Malaysia. Everyone who met Amy found her to be extremely enthusiastic and energetic which will stand her in good stead for taking the music department reins.

Mr Mark Hindley 

Welcome to Mr Mark Hindley who joins us as second in charge of English. Mark has a wealth of experience having taught at Abingdon School, Radley College and Lord Wandsworth College. Mark is very involved in co-curricular across rugby, hockey, and cricket, as well as having led debating and public speaking. 

Miss Agustina Magarinos

Welcome to Miss Agustina Magarinos joins us as a first year ECT physics teacher having completed her student teacher placement at a school in Wokingham. Agustina has a strong academic background with a first-class master's degree in physics specialising in astronomy, space science and astrophysics and will be an excellent addition to the science department. She is also an ex-Premier League handball player. 

Reverend Becky Medlicott 

Welcome to Reverend Becky Medlicott who joins as our new School Chaplain.  Becky was previously Assistant Curate at a church in Wokingham whilst also running her own business as a fitness instructor and personal trainer. Becky takes a holistic approach in all that she does and wants to get involved across the College.  

Miss Ella Povey 

Welcome to Miss Ella Povey who joins us in the English Department. Ella has been teaching for three years and was the lead practitioner for teaching learning assessments at Reading College, as well as teaching GCSE English and ESOL. Outside the classroom, Ella is a rugby player and is Reading Rugby Club Ladies’ Captain and is interested in exploring coaching. 

Mr Toby Scammell 

Welcome to Mr Toby Scammell who also joins the English Department. Toby was previously working at Little Heath School as a Teacher of English and has previously held the same role at the Abbey School in Reading. Toby has interests in film and creative writing. 

Mrs Alison Stewart 

Welcome to Mrs Alison Stewart who joins the Geography Department on a part-time basis teaching a small number of lessons each week. Alison is a former Senior Deputy Head and has been a Head of Geography in a previous role.
