Staff SCR

Although the end of the academic year brings excitement as the summer holidays begin, the College has had to bid farewell to those members of staff who have come to the end of their time at Shiplake. We thank those staff for all they have done for the College and wish them well on their new journeys.

Mr Gregg Davies

After a successful 15 years as Headmaster, Mr Davies moves on to a new career as Director of Education at Bellevue Schools. During his time at Shiplake, the school has changed and developed in many ways. There has been an increase in pupil numbers and the physical size of the school, a dramatic improvement in academic results, development of the co-curricular programme and an ISI inspection that awarded the College 'Excellent' in every category.  Mr Davies has developed a College ethos that is friendly and genuinely holistic with innovative views on educating young people.

Mrs Alison Davies

Mrs Davies joined Shiplake in 2004 and has had two very different roles; teacher of Learning Development and Headmaster’s wife. Both roles immersed Mrs Davies in College life. She was also a tutor in Everett House where she enjoyed helping boys with their prep and running cookery club in the Everett kitchen. After 15 years of teaching at Shiplake, Mrs Davies will be moving to North Nottinghamshire with Mr Davies and their two dogs. She will now be part of two private fostering panels and as part of a bench of Magistrates.

Rev'd Stephen Cousins (The Rev)

Rev'd Cousins has been the spine of Shiplake’s pastoral care over the last 10 years as the School Chaplain. The Headmaster, Mr Davies perfectly described 'The Rev' on speech day; “He has been the true shepherd of the Shiplake sheep; to the pupils, staff and parents.” Rev'd Cousins moves on to a new chapter where he will be Chaplain to the Ewelme Trust and Associate Priest in the village.

Mr Adam Mallins

Mr Mallins joined Shiplake nine years ago after making a career change from television producing to geography teaching. During his time at the College Mr Mallins has progressed in his career, culminating in the position of Senior Housemaster. Mr Mallins has became one of the most loved teachers and respected colleagues at Shiplake. He moves onto the new role of Deputy Headmaster at Crosfields School.

Mr Alex Duncan

Mr Duncan moved to Shiplake from a senior post in a maintained school. Starting as a Geography teacher, Alex moved on to become Skipwith Housemaster for five years. Not only is he moving on from Shiplake, the Duncan family are also relocating to Malaysia where Mr Duncan has taken the role of Head of Geography at an international school.

Mr Alex Hunt

Mr Hunt's time at Shiplake has spanned over 20 years and now he is taking a career change and moving into industry. Mr Hunt started his Shiplake journey as a Design and Technology teacher and Housemaster of Welsh House before moving back to his home country of Australia. After returning to the UK, he answered the Headmaster's call to return to Shiplake and became a successful Head of Design and Technology and Assistant Head, Co-Curricular.

Mrs Judit Coulehan

Mrs Coulehan joined as a learning development teacher and has been a huge part of Orchard House life as a tutor. She is moving on to Davenies School in Beaconsfield, where she has taken the senior post of Head of Learning Support.

Mr David Brenton and Mrs Joan Brenton

After 14 years at Shiplake of ensuring that exam access arrangements, exam invigilation and the school’s timetable have worked smoothly, the couple are moving back to West Wales to retire. Mr Brenton was also a valued member of the Learning Development department.

Mr Byron Ward

After organising many successful College music concerts and this year's ‘Shiplake Rocks’ summer music festival, Mr Ward, Shiplake's Musician in Residence leaves to become a full time musician with his band.

Mr Tiki Ebun-Cole

During his four years at Shiplake, Mr Ebun-Cole has immersed himself in every aspect of College life. He is relocating back to his home country of Sierra Leone and continuing his teaching career.

Mrs Jenny Nunes

Mrs Nunes, who is also an Old Viking, leaves Shiplake after eight years at the College as Head of Drama. Mrs Nunes is off to start her own drama school.

Mrs Vanessa Hine

After covering maternity leave as Head of Drama, Mrs Hine leaves Shiplake to become Head of Drama at Newlands Girls' School.

Mr Jack Norris

Mr Norris been a part of the Shiplake community for two years as a trainee PE teacher. He moves on to be a PE teacher at Highdown School. We also wish Mr Norris all the best this summer as he gets married!
