Saturday 3 June saw the marriage of two Old Vikings. Bunty Rowbotham (13B) and Tom Howe (13O) tied the knot after being together for ten years having met at Shiplake College as Sixth Formers!
They first met at a barbecue held for Sixth Form pupils in May 2011 ahead of starting Year 12 that September. Studying art together in the same class, they got to know each other well before finally ‘getting together’ in their final year.
Bunty said “Shiplake College was and still is an incredible school and will always be the foundation to how our relationship started. We’re very grateful for how fortunate we were to be able to go to Shiplake and both feel it is fate that we met there and it has made us who we are today.
“To summarise what special people you meet at Shiplake, we had many of our old school friends at our wedding to celebrate with us. From what started as pupils in the same class to now husband and wife, we’d like to thank Shiplake for making this happen”.
Tom is now a professional rugby player, who has played in the premiership for 10 years. He has played for Wasps, Worcester and Saracens. Most recently, Tom played for the Barbarians versus Swansea. Bunty is an established sculptor, whose wire mesh sculptures can be seen in Clarendon and Whitewall galleries across the country. They have two daughters, Ophelia aged six and Cressida aged four, who were flower girls on their big day.
Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Howe from everyone at Shiplake College and the Old Viking Society.
