Henley Women’s Regatta
Last weekend, we had four entries at Henley Women's Regatta. These included an A and B Quad competing in the Bea Langridge Trophy, a Coxed Four competing in the Groton School Cup, and a single sculler racing in the Di Ellis Trophy who went on to win overall. It would prove to be a successful weekend of racing and served as good preparation ahead of Henley Royal Regatta.
In the Di Ellis Trophy, Jess Weir dominated the event, winning all of her races in a comfortable fashion to take the overall win and claim the trophy. It's yet another medal to add to Jess's collection following her recent success with Team GB rowing. It would also be Coach Mr Safdari's third Henley Women's Regatta win in three years.
In the Bea Langridge Trophy, our A Quad consisting of A Merritt, M Jackson, E Downing, and S Foreman raced themselves into the quarter finals only to be beaten by Tideway Scullers. The B Quad of S McDavid, O Alexopoulos, P Young and L Price finished outside of the top 16 in their time trial.
The Coxed Four consisting of A Parker, G Catlin, E Over, L Vahle and cox M Walker made the semi-finals of the Groton School Cup. In that race, they were narrowly beaten by Marlow Rowing Club after a close battle from start to finish.
Marlow Regatta
The J14A Octo finished 6th while the J15A boat won their B final.
The 2nd VIII finished 5th overall while the newly-formed boys’ quad finished 9th in the time trials. They then followed this up with a 4th place finish in the B final.
The boys’ 1st VIII finished as the 2nd fastest J18 crew only 0.3s behind St Paul's.

Staff vs Gilson Year 13
On Thursday 15 June, the Year 13 cricket girls faced the staff in the annual Pupil vs Staff cricket match. The girls batted first with amazing hits from I Wood and T Firth, who both hit boundaries. There were superb catches amongst the staff, especially from Mrs Rodriguez, with effective all-round fielding from the staff.
The girls then fielded with amazing catches from H Boddy and great wicket keeping from E Young. There were also some great hits from the staff, especially by Mrs Green and Mrs Bayley.
Approaching the final over of the match, the score was tight with the staff just ahead of the girls. P Sanderson achieved a wicket in the final over, allowing the Shiplake girls to win the match by just one run; 266 to 265 runs.
Batters of the Match were awarded to T Firth and I Wood with P Sanderson receiving Fielder of the Match. For the staff, Mrs Bayley was chosen for Batter of the Match and Mrs Rodriguez for Fielder of the Match. A huge thank you must go to our brilliant coach, Coach Dam, for umpiring the match and also to Mrs Lovelock for organising the match and putting on a barbecue for all afterwards.
