Since their introduction a decade ago, the College has become famous for its iconic maroon, black and gold striped blazers. The unique school uniform makes Shiplake pupils instantly recognisable in the local area and it no surprise that they have also attracted interest from further afield.
Pupils who row in the College 1st VIII or at Henley Royal Regatta are eligible to purchase a Shiplake Rowing Blazer. These bespoke blazers tailored by Collier & Robinson feature a magnificent gold trim and detailing in addition to the traditional design. These blazers are worn with pride by Old Vikings attending the Regatta each summer.
There are, of course, many other eye-catching rowing blazers around the world. Author Jack Carlson has now compiled a book featuring all the very best designs and most prestigious rowing clubs. Old Viking and GB Olympic medallist Will Satch was chosen to model the Shiplake blazer in the book, and features prominently on Carlson’s Rowing Blazers website.
This week, the current College 1st VIII received their blazers ahead of the upcoming Henley Royal Regatta. They certainly look the part and are entering the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup full of confidence following some brilliant recent results.
2014 Shiplake College 1st VIII: Back row (L-R) - Dom Parnell, Max Hearnden, Henry Hogan, Tom Arnold, Harry Vardigans. Front row (L-R) - Harry Berkley, Henry Cawthorne, Dom Marsh, Tom Berkley.
Following interest from several Old Vikings, our supplier Collier & Robinson have agreed to make the blazers available for a limited time only. Eligible Old Vikings can register their interest by emailing [email protected].
Customers can supply measurements online or pop into Henley to be measured up in person. The blazers generally have a 2 month lead time so in all likelihood would not be available for this year's Henley Regatta but with a discounted price of approximately £235 offered on group orders, now really is the time to buy.
