On Wednesday 29 June, the final day of the Summer Term, another group of senior pupils will leave the Shiplake ranks, as they prepare to explore new paths and opportunities before them. To celebrate this momentous occasion, and recognise the achievements of all pupils across the academic year, we would like to welcome governors, parents, pupils and staff to attend the annual Prize Giving ceremony.

The proceedings also include awards being given out for a variety of individual successes from across 2015-2016. Each year, the College welcomes a Guest of Honour to deliver a thought-provoking and unique address to the Shiplake community. This year, we are delighted to announce that joining us is inspirational broadcaster, marine biologist and travel writer Monty Halls.

He has excelled in many different roles throughout his lifetime, including serving in the Royal Marines, working with Nelson Mandela during the peace process, and pursuing a career in expeditions, travel journalism and biology. Amongst many notable expeditions, Monty has discovered a sunken city off the Indian coast, investigated poaching activity on the Nyika Plateau and dived looking for evidence of prehistoric settlements in cave systems off the Cape, South Africa.

Upon winning Channel 4 wilderness survival competition Superhumans, Monty launched a successful career in television, presenting series for Channel 4, National Geographic, the History Channel, Channel 5 and the BBC. Popular series which Monty has presented include Great Escapes, Lost Worlds and Great Barrier Reef.

Alongside a burgeoning career in broadcasting, Monty has developed a passion for leadership and team building, and has added speaker and corporate trainer to his already impressive CV. The world of education has also caught his attention; Monty has recently launched a national scale initiative to address leadership training within the education system. We are certain that Monty will provide an inspiring and dynamic address to all the Shiplake family. We eagerly await the opportunity to welcome him.
