The 2020 issue of the OVS Magazine is out now!
The OVS Magazine is sent out to all former pupils and staff and is a great way for them to stay in touch with the school and each other.
It is also available to anyone else who has an interest in Shiplake College, including current parents and pupils and features some interesting stories about former pupils and what they are doing now, as well as the history of the school.
In this issue:
- Read about the fantastic work of Paris-based artist Jasper Galloway who left Shiplake in 1987
- Find out more about the OVS Gap Year Bursary Fund and the amazing ways former pupils Emily Wilkinson and Ollie Brown have used their money - an expedition working in turtle conservation in Mexico and a volunteer rugby coach in Fiji
- We say farewell to outgoing Headmaster Mr Davies and welcome his successor Mr Howe, who gives his first impressions of Shiplake
- Happy Birthday to Shiplake! Read about our 60th anniversary celebrations
- Former staff member Ian Lowry provides a fascinating insight into the architect behind Skipwith House
Mrs Catherine Brazil, Events and Alumni Officer is responsible for putting the OVS magazine together. She works closely with the Old Viking Society committee, helping them to organise events and keep links with former pupils and staff.
She said: “There has certainly been lots going on in the Old Viking Society over the past year and it was great to see so many Old Vikings at the 60th birthday celebrations and the FieldFest in September.
“The OVS Magazine is a fantastic way to keep in touch with the school and we love to feature what former pupils and staff are up to now. I really hope you enjoy reading this issue.”
