Before the half-term break, we were delighted to welcome Professor Clive Page to the College for a Scholars’ Masterclass. On Monday 13 May, our scholars and other members of the Shiplake College community were treated to a fascinating talk on Professor Page’s work and research.

Professor Page is a Professor of Pharmacology at King’s College London and Director of The Pulmonary Pharmacology Unit, also of King’s College London.

Professor Page’s main research interests are in the pharmacology of inflammation and respiratory disease, and he has published over 250 scientific papers. He was also the co-founder and previous Chairman of the Board of Verona Pharma, a company developing new drugs for the treatment of respiratory diseases.

Professor Page started his early career in the pharmaceutical industry at Sandoz, Basel, Switzerland, and regularly consults to both the pharmaceutical and biotech Industry.

Master of Scholars, Mr Player, said:

‘It was a really engaging talk. Professor Page spoke to our scholars about some of his exciting research, with a particular focus on the treatment of asthma. In an interactive session that included some super questions and ideas, Professor Page went into the complex nature of his research, showed and explained fascinating images of the body at work, and delved deep into the incredible, important, and life-changing power of science and biology.’

Thank you, Professor Page, for visiting the College and taking the time to inspire our young Scholars!
