In this week's Sports Report, we catch up on the latest results from the cricket pitch where there block fixtures against Reading Blue Coat School and Lord Wandsworth School. Our junior rowers were in action at the Star Regatta in Bedford and in tennis, our Colts were looking to make it five wins out of five!

Rowing

Bedford Star Regatta

On Saturday 8 June, our junior rowers were in action at the Star Regatta along the River Great Ouse in Bedford. Shiplake entered many boats which included J14 single and double sculls, two J14 octos, two J14 coxed quad sculls, as well as a J15 four and eight. On the J14 front, the regatta allowed for rowers to ‘double up’ with some of our pupils rowing in the octo and double sculls.

Well done to our J15 eight who reached the final. The crew - consisting of T Cockings, M Simpson, W Huckle, Z Young, H Tilney, M Warby, J Terry, C Scott, and cox W Griffith – beat crews from King’s School Ely and Bedford School before losing to a strong Bedford A crew in the final. However, there was success for our J14 octo! After reaching the final, the crew consisting of B Maggs, E Grubb, B Maskell, H Webb, B Oliver, T Sharp, O Spearing, C Sookha Williams, and cox P Newton, ran out eventual winners against Bedford Modern School.

Tennis

Colts vs Crosfields School

The colts team now make it 5 wins out of 5! Crosfields’ 1st seed pair were a very strong outfit which gave all of our pairs really competitive games. After going to a tie break three times, the Crosfields’ 1st pair managed to win all three of their matches, however, Shiplake's strength in depth proved too strong once again as all three of our pairs won their remaining two matches against seeds 2 and 3 of Crosfield. The final result was 6-3 to Shiplake and Pair of the Day went to W Smith and Z Fisher.
