The College held a Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 8 November, in order to remember those that have fallen during wars, and service men and women who are still fighting for their country now. Reverend Stephen Cousins led the service. The College was very privileged to welcome Mr Tim Coulson MBE, as a guest speaker at this year’s service.

Mr Coulson is a survivor of the 7/7 bombing in London, in 2005. He spoke of his experiences on that terrible day, and how it changed his life. He talked about the hardships that soldiers have had to endure during wars and conflicts, and how lasting and deep friendships can be formed from such devastation. Mr Coulson was incredibly open-minded about his experiences, saying that it has never made him bitter or bear malice against the aggressors, confident always in his strong Christian faith, which has supported him throughout. He finished by saying that we all need to enjoy the simple things in life; eat more ice cream, admire the sunsets and smile at more babies! His address was beautifully moving, and the Great Hall was packed to capacity.

Head of College Greg Cooke, and Head Chapel Warden Dom Allen were invited to lay a wreath at the Shiplake Village War Memorial, where another Remembrance Service was being held.

The entire College also gathered on Wednesday 11 November, to observe the two minutes silence. Reverend Cousins prayed with the surrounding staff and pupils, and Year 10 pupil Ben Fletcher played the Last Post from the top of Skipwith tower.
