Rowing

On the last weekend of half-term break, eight of the boat club members competed at the British Rowing Junior trials in Boston, Lincolnshire.

The race was a time trial, held over a long distance course of 5km. Each rower had two opportunities to race to show what they were capable of. Athletes who placed high in the time trials will be invited to Spring trials next month. We had some outstanding results and hope to see at least six of our rowers progress to the next round.

In the junior women's singles round, Olivia Morgan finished fifth of 69 competitors and then won the double scull race with her partner from Leicester.

Rob Humphris finished sixth out of 46 Junior-18 single sculls, which is a fantastic result given that he is a Junior-16 rower.

We had three Junior-18 pairs racing in an event with 41 pairs competing.

S. Hjortland-Marks/ M. Brown finished 10th (race 1)

R. Ash / B. Brockway 15th (race 1)

T. Boret / S. Burnand 30th (race 1)

R. Ash/ D. Brown finished 7th (race 2)

S. Hjortland-Marks/S. Burnand 13th (race 2)

T. Boret / B. Brockway 29th (race 2)
