In June 2019 a group of our pupils took part in the Physics and Biology Olympiad challenges, which saw our pupils high up in the national rankings for their age.

The Junior British Physics and Biology Olympiad Challenges are national competitions which see some of the best physics and biology students in the country attempt to solve a range of problems. Although most of the questions are based around the current GCSE curriculum, students gain more marks if they have a general knowledge of physics or biology (dependant on which competition they are taking part in) as well as taking a keen interest in practical work in lessons.

In the Physics competition S Marriott and E Dallas achieved a bronze award, H Stokes and H McLaren achieved silver awards and D Hiller and O Hart were both outstanding and achieved gold awards for their high scores, putting them in the top 10% nationally.

In the Biology competition R Ash and J Underwood were highly commended, putting them in the top 44% in the country, J Marsh received a Bronze Award (top 33%).

Thank you to the Head of Physics, Mr Colman-Weller and Head of Biology Mr Reynolds for all your hard work with the pupils and for providing them this great opportunity to not only challenge themselves, but to also take on the rest of the UK to see where they rank nationally for their age.
