Congratulations to Old Vikings Henry Blois-Brooke (17S) and Sophia Hahn (19B) who both took home medals from the U23 World Rowing Championships.
The event, which was held in Racice in the Czech Republic, last weekend is the top event for rowers aged under 23 in the world.
Henry represented Great Britain in the U23 Men's Four, and took home a bronze medal. The crew dominated their heat to progress to the semi-final and came second in the semi to reach the A final. Sophia, who was racing in the USA U23 Women's Eight, took home a gold medal, having won the preliminary race.
Mr David Currie, Director of Rowing, said: "We are very proud to see Henry Blois-Brooke represent Great Britain in the U23 four.
“His crew was disrupted by illness during the regatta and a substitute was made before their semi-final. The crew showed great character to make the A final and to win a bronze medal.
"Sophia has gone from strength to strength with her rowing since leaving Shiplake to study in the United States.
“To make the USA women's U23 8+ is a fantastic achievement and then backing it up with winning a gold medal is remarkable!
"I hope these athletes are seen as an inspiration to our current and future students at Shiplake."
