On Monday the whole school community including all pupils, staff and dogs took part in a very special cross country event - Race for Ukraine.
Everyone was invited to run or walk the 4.3km course which, with the numbers of people involved, collectively represented the distance from Shiplake to Kyiv. Families and friends were then invited to donate to the College's JustGiving Page, with all proceeds doing to the DEC to support those people affected by the war in Ukraine.
To date, more than £15,000 has been raised, which including Gift Aid takes the total to nearly £19,000. Our thanks goes out to everyone for their generous donations. If you would still like to donate, click here.
The monies raised equates to 1,342 Comfort Kits, or 418 Emergency kits or temporary shelters for 1,856 families.
School Chaplain, Revd Chris Briggs, said: "My sincere thanks to all who participated in the Race for Ukraine as a runner, walker, steward or organiser.
"Benefitting from gorgeous weather, it was a terrific event; both competitive as a cross country race and as an expression of our desire to help the people of Ukraine.
"My thanks also to Mrs Green who set up the JustGiving page. The initial target was £10,000 but the total as I write this is £15,447 + £3,321 in Gift Aid.
"This is an astonishing amount and our thanks go to the many Shiplake families, staff and Old Vikings who have responded so generously."
