Boys’ U14A vs Bloxham School
The U14A team avoided the damp pitches to host Bloxham School on Saturday 22 April for the first cricket match of the season. An excellent batting performance by H Terrington, who scored 53 from 51 balls, set Shiplake on the way to scoring 96 runs. This proved to be a good score on a low scoring pitch.
Shiplake then performed well as a team, fielding and bowling well and keeping pressure on Bloxham throughout the innings. Of note in the field were J Hills and O Bailey who made hard catches and prevented runs consistently. The team shared the wickets and bowled Bloxham out for 67 runs, winning the game by 29 runs. Stand out bowling figures came from S Lingard and D O'Brien, both of whom bowled three overs for five runs, taking 2 wickets.

Rowing
Eight of our senior rowers competed at the GB Small Boats Regatta in Nottingham over the weekend. The event was side-by-side racing over 2km and the athletes raced three times - a time trial, a semi-final, followed by a final. This is the last trial before crew formation for GB selection which is held after the Henley Regatta.
Already buoyed by the recent success of having three pupils selected to represent Team GB at Munich Junior Regatta in May, the College's rowers put in another great stint. F Middleton, who was paired with a rower from Westminster School, won the A-Final which makes them the top two U19 rowers in the country. And, in the single scull event, J Weir showed her class by winning the A-Final. This makes her the top GB U19 sculler in the country.
In the other events, E Downing finished 5th in the C-Final (17th overall), H Harper raced in a single scull and won the C-Final (13th overall), C Wallis and F Worthington finished 2nd in the C-Final, (14th overall), and N Floyd and L Byca won the B-Final (7th overall).
Speaking after the event, Director of Rowing Mr Currie said, 'Winning this prestigious trial is a first for Shiplake College and to do it with a boy and girl in the same year is fantastic!'
Rugby
Following on from his recent successes in playing for the Midlands Central U18 Rugby Academy, as well as being selected for Scotland Rugby team for the U18 Six Nations Festival, we are delighted to hear that Year 13 pupil, Charlie Moss, has signed a professional contract with London Irish Rugby.
