This week, some of our Year 10 pupils underwent careers profiling with SPW Careers and MyFutureChoice. This involved an interview with an external careers guidance professional, while in the case of SPW Careers pupils, this also included a profiling test.
SPW Careers provides careers and university education, information, advice and guidance which supports students to explore their career and university aspirations. MyFutureChoice provides a similar service where their careers interviews aim to reveal students’ underlying interests and help them towards their career goals. It was brilliant for pupils to have a chance to have a one-on-one conversation with someone outside of the College about their future plans.
Head of Careers, Mrs Rapple Moore, says:
‘Alongside our extensive in-house Careers programme, we offer a profiling option to our Year 10 pupils in which we use two external careers companies - MyFutureChoice and SPW Careers. Pupils have a choice of two profiling programmes, one shorter and less extensive, and one longer and more in depth; both of which include a face-to-face interview. We find that the pupils get a great deal out of talking to someone they don't know, and the feedback from their meetings is always extremely positive. Pupils come out of their sessions with much more insight into what they might study in the sixth form and the kind of careers that might suit them.
Jane and Mark from MyFutureChoice and SPW Careers respectively are both extremely knowledgeable and approachable and make sure the pupils are fully equipped to explore the career paths that best suit them. The profiling programme is a key part of our careers offering and helps prepare the pupils for the in-depth careers lessons they will have in Year 12 and 13.'
