The week before half term we offered all our Year 10 pupils the chance to take part in a Careers Profiling programme.
There was a choice of two programmes - the MyFutureChoice programme offered an interests-based questionnaire and a 20-minute online interview with a Careers Advisor, while the SPW programme offered a much more detailed profile that included interests, verbal and spatial reasoning, numeracy etc and a 45-minute in-person interview with a Careers Advisor, with the promise of another interview early in Year 12.
It was brilliant for pupils to have a chance to have a one-on-one conversation with someone outside of the College about their future plans and to help them crystallise their Sixth Form subject choices.
The feedback from pupils was overwhelmingly positive, with pupils commenting on how helpful they found the interview and how worthwhile the process had been.
In the feedback questionnaire to SPW Careers, 100% of pupils found their interview either extremely useful or very useful, felt they were more clear on their future options, and would recommend SPW to others. A selection of their comments are below.
This programme will continue to be offered to all Year 10 pupils in the summer term each year.
Head of Careers, Mrs Rapple Moore, said: "I am delighted to be able to offer these programmes to Year 10 pupils as it's so important to get pupils thinking about their futures as early as possible, and this is the perfect time to help them to make decisions about their A Level choices and the possible future careers that might suit their skills."
