Pupils from Year 9 and 10 thoroughly enjoyed an insightful trip to Barcelona, Spain, in April, accompanied by students from Cranford House. Keen for a reunion, students from Shiplake and Cranford House headed into Henley town centre to catch up on experiences and reminisce about the trip.
Head of Modern Foreign Languages Mrs Justine Parrott, along with Mr Yona Diez-Urkidi, took a group of 20 boys to the Mexican restaurant Pachangas, to celebrate the reunion of the Spanish trip with a Mexican theme, and enjoy some traditional cuisine! Having all piled into a mini-bus, the boys left school following lessons and made their way to the restaurant, keen to see students from Cranford House.
The delicious dinner, which included various dishes such as nachos, enchiladas and burritos, was accompanied by Mexican music, chocolate con churros and sombreros. The finale to follow this sumptuous dinner was a piñata, and each student had the opportunity to try their hand, blindfolded, at knocking the piñata and spilling its sweet contents.
The pupils from both schools had a fantastic time. This is the second collaboration between the languages department at Shiplake and Cranford, and many plans are in the pipeline for future educational visits and socials.
