Trips & Visits

Earlier in the Spring Term, on Thursday 18 January and on Tuesday 30 January, our Year 13 business pupils went on a trip to meet Marc Goodwin, the Business Director of Badgemore Park Golf Club. The trip provided an excellent opportunity for our pupils to link what they had been learning in the classroom with the real world.

Teacher of business studies, Mr Gower, says the following:

‘The purpose of the trip was to discuss how the club manages new and existing customers, and how their communication strategy meets their new brand values. It was also a chance for students to experience a tour of the many facilities Badgemore Club has to offer as well as witness first-hand the customer service offered at the club.

Badgemore Park recently completed a five-year improvement plan to modernise and diversify the club from a traditional golf club. The new gym and facilities have attracted a wider female demographic, and Marc now has planning permission to start a new phase in its development. However, he was in no rush to get the building started and said:

"We are looking at a third attraction to complement the gym and golf course without comprising what we already offer, it's a difficult decision that requires careful planning."

As part of their coursework, students will have to decide what their own recommendations will be to improve the customer experience at the club. Amongst the many ideas put forward by the pupils, a padel court, a spa, and extra accommodation were all key ideas, but it is clear that our pupils are likely to have even more innovative ideas.’

Thank you to Marc Goodwin for his warm welcome, and also to Mr Gower for organising the trip.
