On Saturday 26 June, the Great Hall was transformed into a spectacular space full of art and photography for the annual end of year private view. Despite a sudden downpour as the exhibition was due to start, large numbers of pupils, parents, staff and local artists braved the elements to attend what could be said to be the highlight of the art department's calendar.

There was an eclectic individual range of styles and disciplines including impressive large sculptures using chicken wire, alongside more traditional ceramic sculpture. There were numerous creative narratives, from impressive complex paintings by Year 13 (A2) students, who produced practical outcomes alongside 3000 word essays. Photography students displayed work using Photoshop manipulation, as well as manual production of tunnel books. Some of the art had been converted into postcards for people to keep as mementos and there were also canvas tote bags with transfers of the art available to purchase.

Head of Art, Mrs Hema Gillings, commented: "Congratulations to all GCSE, AS and A2 Art and Photography students who exhibited work. It was wonderful to meet some of the real-life models who had inspired some of the pieces! I look forward to seeing the younger pupils progress further in the next academic year - put Saturday 24 June in your diaries for the 2017 private view!"
