In today’s (Monday 6 November) Whole School Assembly, the Headmaster, Mr Howe, announced the winners of the previous half-term's enrichment passport award.

The enrichment passport lies within the Shiplake Seven framework, which is a teaching and learning framework designed to foster and develop key interpersonal qualities in our young people. The framework is integrated across the academic and co-curriculum, allowing the seven qualities to be nurtured inside and outside the classroom. Pupils are encouraged to use these skills in their lessons and activities, with staff awarding 'excellence slips' in recognition of notable achievements or good behaviour.

The seven qualities are:

  • Curious
  • Open-minded
  • Motivated
  • Reflective
  • Determined
  • Creative
  • Independent

Assistant Head (Learning and Enrichment), Mr Shaw, says:

‘All departments provide enrichment opportunities for different year groups across the academic year and the summer holiday, breaking the year into 7 sections - one for each of the Shiplake Seven. When pupils take part in these activities, they should record the evidence: a sign-up email, confirmation, photographs or even the project itself, in a portfolio which acts as an enrichment passport. Pupils gain points for each activity they can evidence, and the top 3 for each year group are rewarded each half term. Pupils also write a reflection on the activity through the lens of the Shiplake Seven on how it has supported them and their enrichment.’
