Biology Trips & Visits

In the first week of term the Biology Department took 18 students away to the Medina Valley Centre on the Isle of Wight for four days for the fieldwork component of the A Level course. Working with a tutor from the centre, the group looked at rocky coastal ecosystem, saltmarsh succession,  and species diversity in an estuarine environment.

With the visit loosely modeled on a university level trip, the working day stretched from the morning until the after dinner and the students coped with the intensity admirably. As is becoming tradition, evenings featured lots of social entertainment including pizza night, camp fire and 'wide games' and numerous games of 'werewolves' in the common room. It was very much a case of work hard, play hard!

Many thanks to Beatrice and everyone at Medina and to Mr Walter for accompanying the trip.
