The College is delighted to announce the Prefect and Head of House appointments for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The appointments were made after a rigorous application process, which included submitting application letters and taking part in three different group assessments. Fellow pupils and teachers were also involved. The application process provides a brilliant experience for the pupils and helps to prepare them for university and job applications.
For the new academic year, 2019-2020, 12 new full Prefects have been appointed, in recognition of their qualities and achievements throughout their time at Shiplake. School Prefects are required to carry out a number of different duties around the school. They help teaching staff supervise assemblies and meal times, as well as play a major part in open mornings.
The group of new Prefects and Heads of House will be led by R Ash and E Thomas, who are joint Heads of College. They have been chosen for their leadership skills, sense of responsibility and maturity.
Nick Brown, Deputy Head said: “We have a wonderful group of enthusiastic and very able Prefects and Heads of House who, between them, possess a range of invaluable skills. They have already started in their new roles.
"They received leadership and team building training back in May and seem to be working fantastically well together. As well as their responsibilities in helping to run the school day, they know to look out for any member of the community who may be struggling or who is unhappy.
"Intuition and compassion are probably the two most crucial skills which Prefects and Heads of House need to display, and develop. They will be busier than ever at the end of term!”
The Headmaster would like to congratulate the following students who have been appointed as Prefects and Heads of House, which is an exceptional honour and achievement.
