Twenty-seven pupils have been awarded with Star Reader badges and certificates for their reading achievements over the Autumn Term, including one Multi-Millionaire Club reader - Max Dag!
This is the second year that pupils are using Accelerated Reader to monitor their reading progress and recommend new books to read.
Pupils sit online assessments each term which calculates their reading age and then recommends appropriately challenging books to read.
When the students finish a book, they take an online quiz. If they pass, these words are ‘banked’. At the end of every half-term, pupils who reach reading milestones receive achievement certificates and lapel badges.
The second half of the Autumn Term saw the biggest jump in reading amongst the pupils with 17 Bronze Stars (more than 250,000 words read), 5 Silver Stars (more than 500,000 words read), 4 Gold Stars (more than one million words read and joining the Millionaire’s Club), and one Multi-Millionaire Award. See our winners in the table below.
Mrs Sally Bayley, Thinking Space Manager, said: “Well done to all the boys for these fantastic reading achievements, particularly as these are words banked from only one term of reading!
“We are delighted the pupils are engaging so well with the programme, so keep up the good work!”
