The Scholarship Programme for 2020-21 officially began on Tuesday with a socially-distanced meeting of the Exemplum Docet Society in the stretch tent.
Master of Scholars Mr Woolner introduced the new-look programme alongside Mr Bowden, our newly appointed Head of Athletic Development, who will administer the sporting side of the programme.
As well as the familiar mentor and masterclass components, Mr Woolner launched the #ShiplakeScholars website.
Mentors will meet with scholars via Google Meet each half term to help them become the best version of themselves.
This year's mentors are:
Academic | Performance | Sports |
Mr Littledale | Mr Ramsey | Mr Beckett |
Miss Pye | Mrs Farrell | Mr Walter |
Mr Loughe | Mr Curran | Mr Safdari |
Miss Jones | Mr Miller | |
Mr McCraw | ||
Miss Mordue | ||
Mr Currie |
The masterclass element includes a pairing of a Mentor and Scholar who will each put together a 10 minute presentation about a subject that interests them. This will then be shared with all the Scholars to enhance their learning.
All Scholars have been issued a link to their own dedicated site and are expected to use it as a way to show off their pursuits, both academic and extracurricular.
Mr Woolner, said: “It was fantastic to launch this year’s Scholarship Programme this week and I am really looking forward to working with all our Scholars and Mentors.
“This year for the first time, each Scholar has been provided with their own website so they can share their work and research and upload videos of them performing in their field, or trying out new skills.
“I’m excited to see what they come up with.”
