Congratulations to Abi and Emily in Year 12 who have been awarded with Language Leader Badges, after proving themselves worthy ambassadors for the language department.
The College now has three Language Leaders, with the girls joining Rada in Year 13 who was appointed as our first Language Leader in 2019-20.
The badges have been awarded in recognition of the inspiring work they are doing with some of our developing linguists in the Lower School.
Abi peer tutors Year 7s in small groups on a Wednesday morning and Emily gives up one hour of her time every Monday to tutor a Year 8 pupil.
Both students have produced their own teaching resources and clearly enjoy the benefits from engagement with the Lower School.
All three girls also delivered an inspirational Thursday Thought on the value that language learning has added to their lives as part of European Day of Languages in September.
Mrs Justine Parrott, Head of Modern Foreign Languages, said: “I hope that Abi and Emily will wear these badges with pride in recognition of the positive contributions that they are making to their A Level subject and to the College.”
Emily said: "We found about about the award in assembly so were really surprised. Mrs Parrott then presented our badges in Spanish class.
"I really love learning languages. It is useful for travel and think it is really cool when someone can speak different languages."
If you are a student who might benefit from having a peer tutor to help you prepare for a speaking exam, learn a vocabulary list or a tricky grammar point, please get in touch with Mrs Parrott, so that she can link you with one of our Language Leaders for support.
