Our Sixth Form girls were delighted to welcome back Old Viking, Hattie Austin who left Shiplake last summer. Hattie came to the College to run a socially-distanced lacrosse training session, having previously played at a national level. For many of the girls it was their first experience of playing lacrosse. Antonia Tunnicliffe, our Girls' Sports Captain tells us more:

At Monday’s sports session, the girls had a lovely surprise from one of Shiplake’s leavers in the summer, Hattie Austin.

Hattie used to play lacrosse for England U19 and is a qualified umpire and coach. She led the session, giving the girls a taster on the basics of lacrosse and skills. Hattie taught us how to pass the ball, how to scoop the ball and the basic techniques in a game.

The girls massively enjoyed this session with Hattie and many of them said that they would love to play again.

Thank you for Hattie for taking the time to come in and teach the girls about lacrosse and we hope that she enjoyed her visit back to Shiplake. It was a great experience and brought back many memories for girls who have played lacrosse before or were new to the sport. Two ladies that really got involved with the session were Amy Selwyn and Anna Galpin, who Hattie was very impressed with.
