Our Lower School boys enjoyed two fantastic trips away during the last week of term, with Year 7 going on an PGL adventure in Osmington Bay and Year 8 venturing over the sea to Jersey.

It was a busy and adventurous few days for both year groups with kayaking, climbing, paint balling and SUPing to name a few of the activities on offer.

Head of Lower School, Mr Tom Crisford, reports on the Year 8 trip: "Once again Jersey proved to be a great success for the Year 8 Residential Trip at the end of what can only be described as an extraordinary year. Whilst arriving into Jersey was not without its challenges it was absolutely worth it right from the start with an action-packed few days on the island.

"Our first port of call was a beach afternoon and although the sun was not shining it was a great way to get the trip started with all the boys going for a dip and plenty of beach games being played. On return to the hotel after refuelling in the legendary Merton Hotel buffet it was straight onto the Flow Ride to enjoy some artificially created surf.

"Tuesday morning was spent at the activity centre completing a whole host of challenges ranging from climbing, zip wire, king swing, aerial assault course, paint balling and various challenge tasks. For me undoubtedly the highlight from the activity centre was the boys achieving the customer record in the crate stack of 22 crates which is an incredible achievement. The afternoon was spent at St Brelade's beach enjoying some mega SUPing and getting our technique sorted for coasteering by jumping from the pier.

"The next day, we were back at the activity centre in the morning before what we all had been waiting to take part in, the coasteering at Greve de Lecq. This was an awesome activity with all boys engaging really well and rising to the challenge of scrambling across the rock face and doing some significant jumps into the sea. The most challenging of these was Cyclone and for those who jumped it, I am sure, it will live long in the memory.

"The final day was once again spent at St Brelade's beach with the group being split into two and whilst one group enjoyed some sofa and doughnut rides on the back of the rib, the others kayaked out to some rocks and did some more coasteering.

"Sadly this was the end of the trip and we headed to the airport exhausted but content on what was a great trip. We even had a glimpse of the British Lions as they drove into the airport at the same time as us, it was an exciting way to end what was an amazing trip."

Deputy Head of Lower School, Mrs Keli Thomas reports on the Year 7 trip: "All of Year 7 went off to Osmington Bay PGL for a three day, action-packed trip on the last week of term.

"The boys were fantastic and gave everything a go, even the high swing where they were hauled up to 10 metres high. The first day and half it poured with rain but that didn’t stop them from enjoying themselves and getting stuck into the activities on offer. Day two the sunshine came out and we ended the evening playing outside in the large sandpit overlooking the gorgeous sea views.

"I cannot thank Mrs Bayley, Mr Wheeler and The Rev for being absolutely amazing, they were a tremendous support for the boys and even got involved in the activities. It was wonderful to see the boys working together, enjoying each other’s company and having a great time, overall a brilliant experience was had by all."
