Today, on Thursday 29 February, we welcomed Big Bang Promotions to the College to deliver a STEM workshop using electric go-karts for our Lower School pupils!
The workshop gave pupils the chance to work as a team to understand the importance of STEM and the impact it has on our lifestyle, the environment and everyone’s future. This was done in the fun and engaging way of using go-karts.
Big Bang Promotions’ mission is to enthuse and inspire young people into pursuing careers in STEM. They are a company with over 25 years in delivering experiences and, through the use of the electric go-karts, have a key focus on green technology to reduce the impact of climate change.
Head of DET, Mr Fuller, said:
‘Pupils in Lower School were given the unique opportunity to learn about Formula One racing and engineering in a hands-on way. It allowed the pupils to develop their STEM skills as well as learn about careers in these areas.
As part of the day, every pupil had the opportunity to take control of an electric go-kart and drive around the sports hall. Track times were recorded, and the results were analysed. All pupils demonstrated a high level of confidence and skill.
This activity will conclude next week with pupils learning about aerodynamics and electrical propulsion in their lessons.’
Thank you to Big Bang Promotions for running the workshop!
