Two star readers passed the million words mark in the last half term as part of the College's Accelerated Reader Programme.
Year 7 pupil Daniyal Siddiqui became a word millionaire after reading 1,110,478 and Oli Thomas, also in Year 7 became a multi-millionaire having read an impressive 2,125,062 words!
In total 17 pupils were awarded with special lapel pins for their reading achievements in the second half of the Spring Term, by Deputy Head Academic, Mr Paul Jones in Whole School Assembly this morning.
The Accelerated Reader Scheme monitors pupils' reading progress. They sit online assessments each term which calculates their reading age and then recommends appropriately challenging books to read.
When a book has been completed, pupils take an online quiz, which if they pass, the words are 'banked' and form part of their reading milestone. Once they receive the milestone of bronze (more than 250,000 words), silver (more than 500,000 words), or gold (more than one million words) they are rewarded with a special reading star pin.
