In the penultimate Assembly of the Autumn Term, the Headmaster announced the Year 12 House Captains and Deputy House Captains. These pupils will lead the way in their respective Houses, setting a great example to their follow peers.
The House Captains and their deputies will play a really important role leading the House over the next two terms, and in the case of Gilson, joining the senior team there.
Speaking at Assembly, Mr Howe said:
"The process to become a House Captain is a rigorous one with application letters being written, and interviews conducted. While there will also be some disappointed pupils, I thank you for caring enough about your houses to apply. You can still have a major role in setting positive examples."
Some of the responsibilites of the House Captains and their Deputies include:
• Setting the right tone and atmosphere in the House community
• Leading the House by expecting high standards from peers, setting an excellent example in terms of work and the way that they perform their duties and ensuring that others in the House carry out theirs
• Organising the pupils on a day-to-day basis both in terms of their duties and their involvement in House events, sporting, cultural or otherwise
• Being prepared and willing to speak to the whole House on occasions, passing on concerns, notices and information from the Housemaster/Housemistress, Matron, the Common Room, Mr Brown, Mr Jones, or even the Headmaster
• Being a prominent figure during House events, ensuring that guests are well looked after and giving a vote of thanks
