In just under a week’s time, on Saturday 4 March, we will be welcoming former Rugby Union and Rugby League player Scott Quinnell to the College as the guest speaker at our Sports Fundraising Dinner. In tandem with this, we are holding an online auction to raise money for the development of all sports at Shiplake College.
The auction includes contributing to the hardship fund for sports tours, broadening the sports programme of visiting speakers and experiences, as well as new sports equipment to enhance the offering provided to all pupils. We asked our sports staff for their 'wish list' of items that they feel would really help develop all Shiplake pupils in sport. This fundraiser will be put towards the purchase of items such as:
- A set of tablets for use in our Weights Rooms to support fitness apps and record pupils' data
- An electronic basketball scoreboard in the Sports Hall
- Starting Blocks for Athletics training and competitions
- GPS Fitness Tracker Vests
- A full-length Sports Hall net for quick and easy set up for badminton and volleyball
