Enterprise Week took place at the College during the week commencing Monday 11 March with the Year 12 CTEC business pupils running a variety of events, which forms part of their Project Management coursework unit.
The events took place during lunchtimes, afternoon prep time, and the evening boarding activities slot with money raised from each activity going towards charity. The events and activities included Splat-the-Teacher, Pizza-by-the-Slice, Ice Cream Cones, a Chocolate Shop, a giant inflatable obstacle course and BBQ meals for boarders.
Teacher of Business, Mrs Bayley, writes:
‘The pupils involved were tasked with raising the profile of enterprise across the college by Mrs Hill, the College’s Head of Business. They were given a small budget and investigated suitable projects to run during enterprise week, and this allowed them to apply the theory that they were learning as part of their project management course.
Students ran a variety of activities for day pupils and boarders, including a BBQ, bake sale and Giant Inflatables. They had to write a project proposal and a full risk assessment plan for each project before getting approval.
Not everything went to plan but they brilliantly adjusted their projects and implemented their contingencies successfully to raise in excess of £600. This will now be allocated to each group's chosen charity from the College's list of approved charities.’
Speaking after Enterprise Week, Head of Business Mrs Hill adds:
'Year 12 CTEC Business students worked very hard during their enterprise week. Their events really highlighted everything they have been learning in Business with Mrs Bayley, exhibiting great leadership, organisation and creative skills. What a brilliant job they all did.'
