Following the first set of autumn reports, teaching staff collated pupils’ grades across all subjects to determine the highest achievers and hardest workers in each year group. Pupils who have performed particularly well this term were awarded certificates in assembly this week.

Pupils were rewarded for overall effort in class, effort in prep (homework), academic attainment and/or receiving the most excellence slips. In some cases, there was great overlap between these categories. In Year 7, Kai O’Hare, Monty Greenaway and Sylvester Sutherland performed very well across the board, while Benjamin Willis also ranked in the top three for prep effort. In Year 8, Jack Underwood demonstrated excellent effort in class and prep, which also resulted in very high academic achievement. Josh Walne, Cameron Jones, Joseph Perry and Sydney Burnand also deserve great credit for their efforts this term.

In Year 9, Joshua O’Hare, Joseph Ruffle and Duncan Eglinton achieved the highest academic grades, while James Gibbs and Morgan Taylor displayed the greatest effort. Year 10 pupils Alfie Sheppard and Brett Fullard stood out amongst their cohort.

Middle school coordinator Mr Morgan commented: “All pupils have worked well this term, but well done to those recognised in assembly this week. The grades are split between attainment and effort, meaning all pupils have the opportunity to excel. I hope to see plenty of different faces receiving certificates from the Headmaster next term.”
