Shiplake Pupils Display True Colours

On Saturday 23rd June Shiplake College hosted the annual Art and Photography Exhibition in the Great Hall. The Exhibition showcased the talented work of our Year 11 and Year 13 Art and Photography students.

The quality and variety of work was outstanding this year and our students worked extremely hard to produce wonderful, vibrant outcomes. The display saw final pieces which, behind the scenes, were supported by a huge portfolio of work that tells a creative journey for each student. The Art and Photography department had also been running a Colour Competition this year where we invited students from every year to create a colourful piece of work. The submitted pieces of work were identified by a ‘Colour Competition Entry’ label throughout the Exhibition. We introduced the edition of customised rosettes to the Exhibition this year which was a fantastic way to award ‘best in show’ judged by Shiplake College’s Senior Leadership team and staff. The following students who received a rosette and were selected for best in show were:

• Thomas Lynskey – Awarded by the Headmaster
• Will Parton – Awarded by Mr Nick Brown
• Adam Porter – Awarded by Mr Paul Jones
• Otto Lazar and Sam Frost – Awarded by the Art department as winners of the Colour Competition

The Exhibition gave all visitors the opportunity to purchase notebooks and postcards with students work presented on the front covers. This was well received as a visual reminder of this year’s exhibition and a keep sake for parents, staff and students to remind them of their achievements. The feedback received was very positive with comments from our visitors book complimenting  the variety, ambition and complex ideas from some of our younger students. We thank everybody who was able to visit and look forward to seeing the potential of next year’s cohorts!
