On Tuesday 18 June, the Great Hall was transformed into an art gallery rivalling both the Louvre and the Tate Modern museums to showcase the fantastic artistic talent of our GCSE and A-level pupils. Every wall had works on display, and there were even works of art hanging from above, as well sketchbooks and portfolios on tables throughout the hall. It was wonderful to welcome staff, pupils, and parents to gaze and marvel upon the work of our pupils.
Speaking after the exhibition, Head of Art Miss Jiggens says:
‘The Summer Art Exhibition at Shiplake College is always a wonderful way to showcase the talented work of our Year 11 and Year 13 art pupils.
All our pupils have worked extremely hard over these past two years to produce a wonderful variety of outcomes. Some of the work on display has been created independently in just 10 hours (GCSE) or 15 hours (A-level).
It was also wonderful to see so many A-level pieces inspired by our trip to Venice in April last year. Each student has chosen their theme based on their interests and what is personal to them - family, social media, hobbies, culture, etc.
What is seen at the Exhibition are the final pieces which, behind the scenes, are supported by a huge portfolio of work that tells of a creative journey. These sketchbooks are all beautifully documented and were also available to view at the exhibition.

Before the exhibition, senior staff and the Art Department were all given a rosette to award to a student they felt deserved recognition for their hard work and amazing artistic talent. This year, the winners of the rosettes are:
