The Photography Department had a fantastic response to the winter-themed photography competition which was launched before the Christmas break.

All images were put to Shiplake College staff and A Level Photography students to cast their vote on which photo they liked the best.

The photography was so impressive that there were four winners in the staff judging category! The winners were announced at the Whole School Assembly on Monday earlier this week. Congratulations to James Middlehurst in Year 8 for his wintery lake and mountains scene with purple skies, Dom Thomas in Year 10 for his frosty lake sunrise, Olivier Wrobel in Year 11 for his Christmassy crane in a snowy setting, and Tom Stuart Year 13 for his sunset over a frosty field.

The top image voted for by A level photographers was Albert Dean's (Year 9), wintery walk image.

Head of Photography, Miss Chloe Mordue said: "I was so impressed with all the entries to the whole school Photography Competition this year. The submissions were sent in over the holidays and displayed a huge variety of different themes and genres, all under the main theme of 'Winter'.

"There were entries from students ranging across all year groups throughout the school, which is really impressive. It was excellent to see such a range of photography; images of dogs in snow, beautiful picturesque landscapes, close-up images of frost and dog sledding in Sweden!

"Well done to all students who sent in entries and to the five students who were voted into the top five images for the competition. I look forward to the next Photography Competition! "
