Following the College's entry into the Henley Youth Festival’s art competition earlier this month, we are delighted to announce that six of our pupils have been awarded prizes this year, with Alexander Bowater-Rubio and Freddie Carlsson taking first place in their respective categories!
The Henley Youth Festival is a totally individual event which celebrates the talents and achievements of young people in the local area, and to give them experiences across a wide range of activities that they may not otherwise encounter.
As part of the festival, an annual art competition is held and this year the theme was 'Go Green'. Several Shiplake artists entered with a wide range of artwork including paintings, drawings, murals, and spray paint pieces. All the submissions were collected on Monday 27 February and entered for judging. Many local schools enter, including Chiltern Edge, Robert Piggott Junior School, and Henley College.
Speaking after the winners had been announced, Head of Art Miss Keli Jiggens said:
‘We were delighted to hear that Shiplake has been awarded six prizes this year! All winners were invited to the prize giving ceremony on Saturday 11 March at the Town Hall where they received their certificates and prizes. Well done to everyone who took part and entered, and to those who received a prize!’
