
The Shiplake College 1st VIII enter the Henley Royal Regatta with high hopes that they can row themselves and their College proud. Having claimed a fantastic silver medal at National Schools’ and won at the Reading Amateur Regatta in recent weeks, the crew are full of confidence.
The crew is comprised of Dom Marsh (cox), Dom Parnell, Harry Vardigans, Harry Hogan, Tom Arnold, Max Hearnden, Henry Cawthorne, Tom Berkley and Harry Berkley. The boat is packed with talent, with Vardigans and Hearnden having previously represented GB at junior level.
Shiplake are relishing the opportunity to test themselves against school crews from around the world in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup. Whilst they are not amongst the favourites for the event, there is a real belief growing in Shiplake that the boys could make significant progress in the competition.
The 1st VIII are competing in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup, a competition which only permits schoolboys under the age of 19. In the first round, Shiplake have been drawn against powerhouses Hampton School.
The race takes place on Wednesday 2nd July at 10.10am.
