On Saturday 6 December, pupils and staff welcomed a special guest to the Great Hall during their lunchtime. This was not an early visit from Father Christmas, but a barber (aka Mrs Satch)!
Earlier in the week, Mr Crisford had announced to staff that if he could raise £50 for the CLIC Sargent Charity, which helps support children going through treatment for cancer, he would shave his hair off… and if the total reached £100 then Mr Settle would also be persuaded to take part! Just five days later and the two teachers were overwhelmed to have received over £3,500 from staff, pupils, parents and friends.
This big buzz event was as a result of Mr Crisford’s young son Samuel finally losing all his hair after 6 months of chemotherapy to treat a Wilms Tumour on his kidney. In a show of solidarity, dad Mr Crisford and godfather Mr Settle decided to shave their hair off too. As you can imagine this is a tough ask for two very fine looking young men but nothing compared to what many children have to cope with during their treatment.
Thank you to everyone that made a donation. There is still time should anyone else want to donate to this worthy cause – please go to www.justgiving.com/keithtomshaveoff. For more information about Samuel’s illness and journey go to www.samuelcrisford.com.
