The ongoing series of Lunchtime Concerts continued today, as pupils and teaching staff took the opportunity to wind down ahead of the February half term break. An attentive crowd gathered in the Lecture Theatre to spend their lunchtime in a relaxing environment with tuneful musical accompaniment, ahead of their final lesson of the half term.

Pupils across five year groups participated in this concert, showcasing their talents on a range of instruments. Year 13 Eleanor Waite opened proceedings with an accomplished performance on piano, followed by Marcus Hillman on the flute. Clarinet player Miles Firth bravely took on a difficult piece by Mozart, with admirable success. The variety continued in the second half of the concert, as Ben Fletcher played a Charkovsky composition on the trumpet, before Jason Chan and Dhanyal Butt concluded the show on the grand piano. We would like to thank Mr Ham for his work in organising the concerts, and Mrs Louise Rapple-Moore for her expert accompaniments.

The lunchtime series will continue after half term, with the next Lunchtime Concert scheduled for Friday 27 February. On that occasion, it will be the turn of Sixth Form BTEC musicians, who will use the concert as a ‘dry run’ for their impending formal event assessment in early March.

There is plenty more music to look forward to next term, with the inclusive Spring Concert set to take place on Thursday 26 March. Meanwhile, tickets are now on sale for the Chamber Choir and Scholars’ Concert, taking place at Christ Church Henley. Please click here for further information and to book tickets.
