Music Co-Curricular

Lunchtime concerts made a return for the Autumn term in spectacular style; a group of accomplished musicians played for a crowded lecture theatre. Originally started to offer budding musicians the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience, the increasingly popular concerts provide the ideal platform to gain this experience. Fellow pupils, teachers and parents had come to hear the first Lunchtime concert of the term, and the music pupils did not disappoint.

Bringing a crescendo to everyone’s Friday, the pupils took to the stage and offered a plethora of different renditions, from songs from musicals to classical pieces. Some tickled the ivories, some were string-based, opting for the violin and others chose to sing.

Year 13 pupil Jordan Gibson took to the stage to sing a spine-tingling rendition of Music of the Night from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, accompanied by Mrs Louise Rapple Moore on the piano. Eliska Zaharova also made an impression on the audience with her beautifully played version of a classical Liszt piece, whilst Henry Blois Brooke played wonderfully on the violin accompanied by Mr Chris Ham. Will Kidd, Alex John Vallee and Ben Atkin also took to the stage, singing and playing the piano, to appreciative applause.

Lunchtime concerts will continue throughout the term, and pave the way towards the eagerly anticipated Winter Concert.
