Today is National Poetry Day,
and that is all I'll say.

National Poetry Day is an inspirational annual celebration which encourages people of all ages to read, write, share and discover poems. Founded in 1994, this is the 23rd year of merriment, and with support from the likes of the BBC, Arts Council England and the Royal Mail, it's hardly a surprise that our boys at Shiplake have got stuck in!

Year 9 pupil Munraj Bal has written a beautiful poem called What's your freedom? It reads:

What's your freedom, what's your freedom?
Is it going at 20 miles at pace,
on a country road?

What's your freedom, what's your freedom?
Is it swooping in the air,
amongst the trees in the breeze?

What's your freedom, what's your freedom?
Jumping up and down,
on a summers' day, like a kid screaming for an ice cream?

What's your freedom, what's your freedom?
Feeling a winters' day, on an icy cold day,
in a freezing cold pool?

Whatever is your freedom, whatever you adore,
it could be a car dodging a bird,
a trampoline frosting over on a winters' day,
or whatever you adore.

Well done to all of our talented pupils who got involved.
