Ahead of their GCSE and A Level examinations this summer, pupils in years 11 and 13 undertook mock examinations and attended a mock examination results day.
Year 11 received their mock results on Friday 25 January, and Year 13 received theirs on Tuesday this week. Deputy Head Academic, Mr Jones has provided the below:
“We wish to prepare our Year 11 and Year 13 pupils fully for the rigours of the forthcoming exam season. Having sat the mock exams at the start of term, we wanted to recreate the complete exam experience with mock results days. The days were intended to replicate the results days themselves and to show pupils the support that will be available to them in August.
Once they collected their results, each pupil had a consultation with a senior teacher to see if their mock grades would have been enough to secure their subject choices in our Sixth Form or a place at their preferred university. It's important for pupils to realise that the work they put in now will have a significant impact on their likely chance of success in the summer.
We now begin the process of reviewing the pupils' exam papers in class, helping them to reflect on their exam performance and to identify gaps in their knowledge. We hope that this will have been a positive experience for the pupils and will act as motivation to work hard in the weeks ahead.”
