This term the new Headmaster, Mr Howe, has continued the Shiplake tradition of producing a 'Headmaster's XV'. This 'dream team' award was started in 2014 by Mr Davies, to recognise the most dedicated pupils consistently displaying exceptional commitment to Shiplake sport.

At the end of each half term, pupils from each of the term's sports teams are nominated by their coaches and the 'top squad' is then announced in assembly and the recipients are awarded with certificates to recognise their achievement. Those who are chosen have been identified as showing a really positive attitude both in training and in matches, acting as an example to others and showing outstanding commitment to their teams. Selection is not necessarily based upon the quality of performance or ability, meaning that it can be won by any pupil who is involved in sport in some capacity.

This term players from the 14 rugby teams, the girls' hockey team and boys' and girls' senior rowing squads were nominated. For the October squad list, Mr Howe added in his own 'super sub', Year 12 pupil Alex Hunt, for winning the Henley 10K race in 39 mins, 59 secs.

Congratulations to the boys and girls who made the grade for both this term's selections:
