Irish eyes were certainly smiling over Shiplake yesterday as pupils and staff celebrated St Patrick's Day, the Patron Saint of Ireland.

The Irish flag flew proudly on Skipwith Tower and some of our Irish staff themed their lessons to commemorate the day and share a bit of Irish culture.

In her drama lessons, Mrs Farrell taught her pupils how to dance an Irish Ceili and in criminology Mrs Magee welcomed her students with her signature Guinness Brownies.

At lunchtime the servery was decorated beautifully, with balloons, Irish flags and streamers to celebrate the day.

Pupils were served Irish stew with colcannon mash, followed by coffee cake with Baileys cream.

Headmaster Mr Howe was also given a gift of living shamrock to wear by Year 13 pupil, Johnny Yulhanson-Hutchins - a symbol of faith, hope and love (and if you have a fourth leaf, luck!).
