Throughout November, members of the College community voted in their masses for their favourite Shiplake dogs. The vote has now closed and the results are in...
It was such a disappointment not to be able to host our annual dog show on the New Field this year, so in a bid to lift spirits and have a bit of fun, we introduced the Shiplake Virtual Dog (and Non-Dog) Show.
We had over 200 entries across the seven categories. Once the deadline for submitting an entry had closed, the panel had the unenviable task of creating a shortlist. Then it was over to you; voting took place throughout November and participants were asked to choose their top three for each category - our Shiplake community is clearly barking mad about dogs as we received over 1500 votes!
The winner of each category receives a £20 Pets at Home voucher to spend on their pet, sponsored by our wonderful Parents’ Association. All of the winners have now been notified and we are delighted to share them with you.
- Best Buddies - Bingo the show cocker spaniel entered by Team Coultas.
- You’ve Been Framed - Buddy the cavapoochon entered by the Savidge Family
- Top Trick - Storm the border collie entered by Warren in Year 10
- Sleeping Beauty - Tia the black labrador retriever entered by David Gemmel
- Perfect Pawtrait - Stanley the cocker spaniel entered by Katie
- Best of the Rest - Echo the 9-year-old pony entered by Gina
- Action Hero - Lucy the border collie, entered by Miss Gregg
All of our first place winners then went through to a final vote by our panel to win one of the three ‘top dog’ prizes, a 400mm x 400mm painting of their pet by local artist Clive Hemsley, also known as The Dog Portrait Artist (RRP £280 each). This prize is generously sponsored by TriQuant Investments Ltd, based in Henley-on-Thames. The vote was incredibly close but Bingo the show cocker spaniel, Buddy the cavapoochon and Stanley the cocker spaniel are the three lucky dogs that will receive this prize.
Alumni and Events Officer, Mrs Catherine Brazil said ‘Thank you so much to everyone who took part in our virtual event, either by entering or voting.
‘It has been such a pleasure to coordinate and really hope that you have enjoyed viewing the entries as much as I have.’
